Hi! My name is Daryn. That over on the left is me, more or less. I'm a university student in California. I like to make websites, particularly for overlooked or completely ignored actors. I have the #1 Philip Seymour Hoffman site on the internet. I also have this great little site for Julian. I've got the largest collection of Cadfael pictures you can find anywhere! Woo!! I rule. So what's with me and Julian?
Ok, I first started seeing Julian in the Cadfael vids on PBS. My mom was into them and I have no life, so I watched them with her and they were cool, and I liked them... then my Grama fell in love with them and bought all of them - she has every box set... I've seen all of the episodes of Cafael and they're all good. I do prefer Sean Pertwee as Berenger in the first series, but I really liked Anthony Green in the last series. I didn't much care for the fellow in between. Anyway, my favorite episodes for Julian content are A Morbid Taste of Bones, Monk's Hood, and The Holy Theif. I also liked The Pilgrim of Hate cuz of Lee Ingleby. I have a site for him too.
The point is that I couldn't help secretly liking Jerome, even though he, the character, is a slimy little weasel... But it never occured to me that I'd really like the actor... Until I got home from a little vacation to Florida and my mom had bought a couple episodes of Jeeves and Wooster - another PBS program I like (and I've even read most of the books, I could never get through a Cadfael book though...) and my sister told me "The guy who's Jerome in Cadfael is Bicky in this episode!" so I watched and I loved it!!
And anyhow, my life has progressed through the months and I have since seen Jules in many more projects, mainly thanks to Irene and Andrea! I saw Oxford Blues and Absolution and the clips of Jules in Twenty-One, Foreign Affairs, and Prime Suspect 1, and Scum and Spymaker, and now, thanks to my dad and the 99 cent video rental store I've seen Shadowlands and I must say that I'm a bigger fan than ever!!! *grin* [that's sarcasm in relation to Shadowlands. Jules is only in it for about one whole minute and I can't believe I sat through the whole thing. The less films I see where Debra Winger dies, the better. hehe...]
So the Young Indys are finally out on video and I have the NOT ONE but TWO which Jules guested in. He plays this little ass (*hmmm* trend..?) who may not be quite such a little ass. He's got a MUSTACHE (likely fake, but he's so cute!!) and he plays a fellow in the British intelligence in the middle east and Africa during World War II with a penchant for bird watching. *hee* Dude, I love him in those.
It seems to me that every time I think I've got Julian's full filmography, I find out about some early '90s film that he was in. But anyway, even though Julian isn't pumping out the work like some other actors, I still love him and hope that he'll keep working. I mostly hope, though, to learn something ABOUT him.
